Romans 1:16 - I am not ashamed of the gospel

Romans 1:16 - I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Last night in our youth group we talked about things that we like that we might be ashamed to admit. My "guilty pleasure" so to speak is cartoons. Some of them I do not like but others, like "The Penguins" are right considered must see TV. That is something I know i would take grief over so as a rule I do not go around telling everyone I am a fan. The only problem is, too often we treat our salvation the same way. Our salvation is not a guilty pleasure, nor is it anything to be ashamed of. Knowing this, why are we so hesitant to share it with others? When it comes to accepted social norms we are told politics and religion are topics off limits. I say we do not need to concern ourselves with social norms and do what we are called to do in the bible. Salvation is free and available to all. If you expose people to the word of God then you are bringing them the greatest gift in the world. Granted, you can not save them, no man can, but God and His Holy Spirit can. You just need to be willing to take the word and the good news to the people. Do not be ashamed of your faith. Do not be ashamed of the gospel. Do not hesitate to share what you have received to others. Salvation is free, all that is required of you in return is faith in that salvation and a willing heart to share that salvation with others.
