Matthew 8:7-8 - Seek and you shall find
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened".
Matthew 8:7-8 should be a familiar passage to most of us. We have heard this in some fashion both through the church and in the world around us. The part I would like to focus on today is the "seek and you will find" portion of the passage.
There is good and bad in this world. We will find what we look for in this life. If we go out looking for trouble, we will find it. If we go out and look for the worst in people, look for the worst in society, look for the worst in the church, we will find that too. We get accustomed to seeing the worst so we come to expect it.
But, when we change how we look at the world and look at things as Christ would, we can see all the good that is around us. We no longer have to expect the worst because through God we know that we have the best to come in all things.
Instead of looking for racism in everything, we can see unity and brotherhood. If we are not looking for corruption and deceit, we can see honesty and integrity. We can choose to seek a better world around us. Life is too short to be miserable and angry all the time. God wants us to have life to the fullest. We cant do that if we are looking for evil all the time.
Ask God to change the way you look at things. Ask Him to show you His world in a way you never looked at it before. Seek a better world and you will find it.
