Mark 8:36 - Who are you working for?

Its Labor Day! Most of us are off work for the long weekend and have nothing planned. Its the last weekend of Summer and we just plan to relax and let the day take us where it will. I know that is my plan for today anyways. Tuesday will come soon enough and the grind will crank up again and we will be back doing whatever it is we do to earn a living. The bible tells us in several places that we are to work for what we get. Paul wrote in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 3 about this. He said that no one should be idle and always work for what they get. We are not meant to be lazy or not to work. Its how God intended for us to provide for our physical needs. So todays question is, who are you working for? Are you working only for yourself, or are you working for God? You can work your fingers to the bone, climb the ladder of success, achieve greatness in business, but what good is any of that if God is not in your life? Mark 8:36 says "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul". You can have all that you ever dreamed of but if you do not have Christ in your life can you ever know true joy? Your money and power and status on this earth can not buy you salvation, it can not buy you a enduring peace in your life. Only God can do that for you. So when we go back to the office, the shop, school, or wherever on Tuesday, work hard, but keep your eyes on the bigger picture. Put Him 1st in all things that you do. Make sure that the work that you do is for his glory and that He is the foundation on which all else is built and all will be fine. I choose to work for God. Who are you working for?
