Exodus 4:10-14 - Excuses, excuses, excuses
Exodus 4:10-14 - Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." But Moses said, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it." Then the LORD's anger burned against Moses and he said, "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you.
We have excuses for everything in our life. We have a reason for a bad grade, a reason to cheat on our taxes or a reason why we are speeding. We are quick to give a reason to not do something or to explain why we did something we know we should not have done. In the end though, its just our attempt to justify ourselves and our actions to others.
Moses tried this with God. He gave reason after reason as to why he should not go. Every time the Lord gave him a reason why he could go. The lord had already anticipated all of Moses needs and had prepared to meet them as needed. All Moses had to do at that point was to go and do the will of God. If we stop and look at stuff in our own lives, we see that we give God the same type of lame excuses as Moses did.
We can tell ourselves that we can't do something because we do not have the time, or the money, or the skills needed to accomplish a task. That may be 100% right. We do not have that on our own. What we forget is that God can meet whatever the need is. He can find the money needed, He can give you the skills, He can free up the time in your life. All we have to do is to be willing to go and do His will.
We have no excuses is what it all comes down too. We can give excuses to one another and hope that folks will not see through our crap but we can't do that with God. He knows better. He knows that He can meet any and all needs that we can every think of. So knowing this, He knows we have no excuse. Stop giving Him reasons why you can't do something and let Him show you the ways that you can.
