God's Grace

This Sunday our pastor was giving a sermon from the book of Romans. One of the main points that he made was that without sin, there would not be need for God’s grace. Now what does that mean exactly? If we were all perfect and never did anything wrong, would we have needed a sacrifice for our sins? Would we have needed Christ to come down and set the example for us to live by and then die to secure our salvation? Of course not. We are born sinners. We can not help ourselves most times because it is in our nature. But, we have the ability to learn and when we do we can see the sin in our lives. Once you are exposed to the word of God and can see what is expected of us, we can start to get an idea of just how lost we are without that perfect sacrifice. Only through sin and our awareness of that sin are we able to fully appreciate the love and grace that we receive from God. We can never be good enough on our own, it is only through the blood of Christ that we are made clean and deemed as righteous. As you get ready for Christmas, please keep in mind that He is the reason for the season. Reflect on what His gift means to you and give thanks that God loved us so much to give us the gift in the first place.
