God is my GPS system
I got a GPS system for Christmas last year. This is one of the best things ever made for those of us that are afflicted with directional deficiency syndrome (that’s the politically correct way to say people that get lost easy). All I do is put the address into the system then I can sit back and let it guide me right to where it was I wanted to go. If I take a wrong turn or hit a detour it will route me around and get me back on track. My GPS can even help me to avoid trouble spots along the way where traffic is backed up and keep me moving on down the road to my final destination. Simply put, I do not have to worry about how to get where I am going anymore and that is a very comforting thought.
We can have that same comfort available to us in our every day lives as well. We have the ultimate GPS guide ever given to man at our disposal. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us. Once we accept God into our hearts we are given this gift. Once our destination is known (heaven) we can rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us to where we want to go. It will keep us on our path even if we take a wrong turn from time to time. It can help you avoid the trouble spots in life as well by reminding you of the teachings from the bible and helping you to see the world through new eyes. If you just listen, He will keep you on the path to our final destination. How awesome is that?
It may not be as dramatic as the pillar of fire that God gave His people during the exodus from Egypt (Exodus 13:21) but it is no less real. Just as He guided His people back then, He is guiding us today. We have the Holy Spirit as well as the word of God, the Bible. We can get to where we want to go if we are just willing to listen to the will of God. He gave us all that we could ever need to reach our destination. The Bible says “all things are possible through Christ who strengthens me”, but we can’t get there unless we know the way. He is the way, and the Holy Spirit is our GPS. All we have to do is accept it into our lives and listen to the directions. He will guide us all the way home from there.
